Saw a regular Cooper S drive by today with a realllll nice sounding exhaust. Funny to see this. Still FWD tho :/

I can’t get over their pricing though.

As the owner of an R53 Cooper S, I can tell you that it’s probably one of the best handling and most enjoyable FWD cars I have ever driven. It doesn’t have the torque-vectoring of the ST hatchback twins but it is insanely responsive and tossable. Just brings a grin to your face.

Also, stock exhaust on my R53 for comparison:

I want to like these things, but the maintenance costs on them are insane for a hot hatch. It’s all the downsides of BMW ownership without the badge prestige.

I’d rent one or go for a test drive, but nothing beyond that.

The stock exhaust is so wheezy!

Sounds nice. I don’t necessarily have anything against FWD, I just think AWD and RWD cars are a bit more exciting.

I thought MINI's around here were bloated pieces of garbage of a shell of their former self?

To most people on here, yeah, and Mazda’s are some sort of automotive holy grail.

Hell yeah!

I love the sound of my cooper S, but still want this upgrade. I think the tips look linda duma with the fake Carbon, but the efect is awesome!

I agree they are. I’m just saying, if for some reason an AWD or RWD car isn’t available, like was my case, then you can’t go wrong with a Cooper S is you want something fun.

I was recently looking at an R53 body style one in orange. NPoCP? Factor in that I could get at least 2k off this price due to association with this dealerships parent company. Need to not be in debt, because I make good enough money to have a genuinely fun and fast car right now.
